Willkie client Jarden Corporation, a leading provider of niche branded consumer products, announced it has signed a definitive agreement to acquire privately held American Household, Inc. in a deal valued at approximately $900 million (including $130 million in assumed debt). 

On September 20, Willkie client Jarden Corporation, a leading provider of niche branded consumer products, announced it has signed a definitive agreement to acquire privately held American Household, Inc. in a deal valued at approximately $900 million (including $130 million in assumed debt).  American Household is the parent of The Coleman Company, Inc. and Sunbeam Products, Inc., leading producers of global consumer products.  In connection with the acquisition, Willkie client Warburg Pincus, the global private equity firm, will invest $350 million of equity into Jarden.    The September 21 edition of The Daily Deal reports that the transaction was handled by partners William Grant, Jeffrey Hochman and Michael Schwartz, and associate Mark Getachew.  The deal is also covered in the September 20 Wall Street Journal and the September 30 New York Law Journal.
