Willkie named 2004 “Bankruptcy Firm of the Year (USA)” by Chambers and Partners, the leading publisher of guides to the legal profession.

On May 6 at an awards ceremony in London, Willkie was named the 2004 “Bankruptcy Firm of the Year (USA)” by Chambers and Partners, the leading publisher of guides to the legal profession. The award was presented by Cherie Booth, the wife of Prime Minister Tony Blair, and accepted on behalf of the firm by London partner Gregory Astrachan. The event was attended by almost 1,000 leading attorneys from all over the world, including representatives from all of Willkie’s European offices. Willkie's Business Reorganization and Restructuring Department was lauded for its involvement in some the largest and most complex bankruptcy cases in recent years, including Adelphia Communications, Conseco Finance Corp. and 360networks. The firm received widespread attention for its role in helping Adelphia secure a landmark $8.8 billion financing package to fund its Chapter 11 exit facility this past February. Willkie was also nominated among a short list of firms for “Law Firm of the Year” in the following additional categories: Communications/IP (W. Europe), Competition/Antitrust (W.
