Kenneth Pierce interviewed by various international periodicals with regard to his role as counsel to the Thai Frozen Foods Association, which is gearing up to defend an expected antidumping action in the U.S. brought by the domestic shrimp industry.
International Trade partner Kenneth J. Pierce has recently been interviewed by various international periodicals with regard to his role as counsel to the Thai Frozen Foods Association, which is gearing up to defend an expected antidumping action in the U.S. brought by the domestic shrimp industry. Mr. Pierce told the Bangkok Post that the planned petition would disrupt the market and force U.S. consumers to pay more for shrimp, America's most popular seafood. (Close to 90 percent of domestic demand for shrimp - a $4 billion market - is served by imports.) He said that Thailand’s shrimp has not been dumped in the U.S., nor has it caused material injury to the U.S. shrimp industry, and that the domestic outcry stems rather from their “inefficient cost management.” In an interview with The Nation, Mr. Pierce stated that the Thai shrimp industry is ready to defend its access to the U.S. market and has the capacity to beat the planned antidumping petition. Kenneth Pierce is a partner in Willkie’s International Trade Department in Washington, D.C., specializing in the full range of U.S. unfair trade actions, such as antidumping and countervailing duty, and Sections 301 and 201 actions.
