On February 28, 2017, at an evening reception held at Akin Gump, Her Justice will present partner Todd Cosenza and associate Jocelyn Sher, along with former Willkie associate Nathan Huddell, with the 2017 Commitment to Justice Award for their representation of Willkie client Ms. S.

On March 17, 2016, after more than two years of contentious litigation, Honorable Pamela Jackman Brown of the Supreme Court of New York, County of Queens, So-Ordered a Stipulation of Settlement between Willkie’s client, Ms. S, and her husband, Mr. S., which provided Ms. S. with all of her requested relief.  Ms. S., whose case was referred to the firm by Her Justice, suffered significant physical and emotional abuse at the hands of her husband.  Although Ms. S obtained a two year order-of-protection (the “OP”) against her husband, he continually violated the OP by calling her, texting, emailing and leaving voicemails that were harassing in nature, and on more than one occasion, showing up outside of Ms. S.’s residence.  Mr. S. was also aggressive with the parties’ child, using corporal punishment and teaching the child to be “strong and mean like daddy not weak like mommy.”

Moments before a court appearance in March 2016, Mr. S agreed to the proposed stipulation of settlement presented by the Willkie team. Pursuant to the Stipulation of Settlement, Ms. S. obtained legal and physical custody of the parties’ child.
