The New York State Bar Association recognized 27 Willkie attorneys in its 2014 Empire State Counsel® Spotlight Edition of Pro Bono News. The Spotlight Edition, published by the Department of Pro Bono Affairs acknowledges the firms and their attorneys individually for their significant contributions to the Empire State Counsel® Program. Willkie is honored for contributing 4,471 pro bono hours to the program in 2014. The Spotlight Edition highlights that the firms and attorneys featured “have made pro bono work – sharing their talent and time with people in need – an integral part of their professional lives.
Launched in 2006, the Empire State Counsel® Program recognizes NYSBA members who, during the calendar year, performed 50 hours or more of pro bono legal services either through direct legal representation of low-income/vulnerable individuals, or donated free legal services to certain organizations that provide assistance for vulnerable and/or low-income populations.
