
Cat Williams is an associate in the Litigation Department of Willkie Farr & Gallagher LLP in San Francisco, CA. Cat litigates complex commercial and intellectual property disputes on behalf of both plaintiffs and defendants in state and federal court and in arbitrations. Cat has served as trial counsel in several high-stakes jury trials involving trade secret misappropriation, false advertising, unfair competition, patent infringement, and copyright infringement. She has also represented clients at the appellate level. Cat has significant experience in all stages of litigation, including examining witnesses, taking and defending expert and fact depositions, arguing motions, and managing discovery.
Experience
- CGI (BGI) v. Illumina (D. Del). Helped secure $333.8 million for Complete Genomics in a two-week jury trial against Illumina in Delaware. The jury found that Illumina willfully infringed two CGI patents and that all three Illumina patents were invalid.
- Proofpoint v. Vade Secure (N.D. Cal). Represented leading cybersecurity company, Proofpoint, Inc. and its subsidiary, Cloudmark LLC, in a four-week jury trial involving trade secret misappropriation and copyright infringement. The jury found that Vade Secure had willfully misappropriated Proofpoint’s trade secrets and infringed the asserted copyrights and awarded approx. $14 million.
