On July 17, it was announced that Merrill Lynch & Co. agreed to sell its 20 percent ownership of Willkie client Bloomberg LP back to the financial data and news media company's general partner, Bloomberg Inc., for $4.425 billion. The transaction was handled by partners Richard DeScherer, Dan Grossman, Carol Mascera, William Hiller, Maurice Lefkort, Hillel Jacobson and Sarah Osborn; special counsel Jack Habert and Joon-Yeung Huh; and associates Nathalia Osorio, Benjamin Thompson, Kara Coggin, Carolina Ventura and Hilary Seo.
