Willkie serves as a main participant in an international forum entitled Corporate Governance and Transparency: Financial Markets After the Collapse of the Speculation Bubble. The forum provided participants with an opportunity to discuss corporate governance issues and the current state of the financial markets with heads of regulatory institutions, operators in the international financial markets, influential international experts, opinion makers and representatives of leading companies.

MILAN, ITALY: On December 2, Willkie was a main participant in an international forum entitled Corporate Governance and Transparency: Financial Markets After the Collapse of the Speculation Bubble. The forum, held at the Four Seasons Hotel in Milan, Italy, was organized with technical advice provided by Studio Legale Delfino e Associati, Willkie Farr & Gallagher (Willkie’s Italian offices), and provided participants with an opportunity to discuss corporate governance issues and the current state of the financial markets with heads of regulatory institutions, operators in the international financial markets, influential international experts, opinion makers and representatives of leading companies. The event included panels covering Italy’s regulation system; general market rules, behavior and efficiency; and the new rules of corporate governance. Among the preeminent roster of speakers were: Angelo Tantazzi (Chairman, Italian Stock Exchange), Lamberto Cardia (Commissioner, Consob), Roberto Testore (Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director, Finmeccanica), Hubert Reynier (Head Corporate Finance, COB), Davide Croff (CEO, Banca Nazionale del Lavoro), Colin Melvin (Director of Corporate Governance, Hermes Pensions Management Limited), Alessandro Penati (Professor of Corporate Finance, Catholic University, Milan), and Piergaetano Marchetti (Professor of Industrial and Commercial Law, Bocconi University - Milan). Fred Kempe, Editor and Associate Publisher of The Wall Street Journal Europe, acted as forum moderator. Willkie counsel and former New York State Governor Mario M. Cuomo delivered the keynote speech on global standards and international collaboration, and local partner Maurizio Delfino delivered the opening remarks as conference host. The forum was well-attended by CEO's and top executives of leading international companies and received significant coverage in the Italian media.
