Litigation Department Chair Tariq Mundiya was named among the “Notable 2022 Asian Leaders” by Crain’s New York Business. This inaugural list recognizes 50 professionals from a wide array of industries and backgrounds who have demonstrated their ability to power change in their industry or their broader communities.

As Chair of Willkie’s Litigation Department and member of the Executive Committee, Tariq has led the 250-lawyer litigation group through significant growth in recent years, including the addition and expansion of litigation teams in Chicago, San Francisco and Los Angeles. He regularly guides public companies and leading hedge funds in proxy battles for corporate control, and serves as a strategic counselor to the Firm’s marquee clients, his most recent success being his role as a strategic advisor to Tom Barrack in the successful defense against the US government’s prosecution of Barrack in the EDNY. Tariq also has a well-established M&A and securities litigation practice, regularly arguing significant corporate issues, including landmark cases in Delaware and New York concerning the national duties of directors in going-private transactions involving controlling stockholders. Tariq supports the Firm’s Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders affinity group. He has also served on the board of directors at Mobilization for Justice, an organization that advises and represents people who cannot afford legal counsel.
