Willkie team recognized at the 10th Annual Above & Beyond Pro Bono Achievement Awards & Benefit for assisting the nonprofit organization in serving domestic violence victims and their children.
On January 14, Willkie was among the distinguished honorees at Sanctuary for Families’ 10th Annual Above & Beyond Pro Bono Achievement Awards & Benefit. Hosted by the Pro Bono Council, this special benefit honored members of the legal community who have gone "above and beyond" by providing outstanding pro bono representation and advocacy to victims of domestic violence and related forms of gender violence. Honorees were recognized for representing domestic violence victims in a host of cases ranging from custody and visitation to gender-based asylum and immigration.
Sanctuary for Families is one of the largest nonprofit agencies in the nation dedicated exclusively to serving domestic violence victims and their children. The organization’s Center for Battered Women’s Legal Services (the Legal Center), established in 1989, is now the largest legal center in the country exclusively dedicated to meeting the legal needs of domestic violence survivors.
