Robert I. Bressman is a partner in the Real Estate Department of Willkie Farr & Gallagher llp in New York.  Mr. Bressman specializes in handling complex real estate financing and leasing transactions, as well as major development and equity deals.

Selected Professional and Business Activities

Mr. Bressman is a member of the Real Property Section and Commercial Leasing Committee of the New York State Bar Association, and is a member of the New York City Bar Association and the Real Estate Board of New York.  He is an associate member of the Association of Foreign Investors and serves on the Board of Directors of Macabai USA.

Mr. Bressman has lectured at real estate conferences sponsored by numerous organizations, including the New York State Bar Association, the City Bar Association, the New York Real Estate Board, the Global Conference Network and New York Law School, and he has published articles on real estate law in various publications, including the New York Law Journal.  Mr. Bressman is the co-author of the course book, Understanding and Negotiating Facilities Leases, which he wrote in conjunction with his participation at a leasing seminar sponsored by the Global Conference Network.  He has also lectured on leasing, acquisition and financing matters for the Real Estate Board of New York and the New York City Bar Association.

Prior Experience
Prior to joining Willkie, Mr. Bressman was a partner at Mayer Brown Rowe & Maw LLP, where he was co-head of the global real estate practice.  He was also previously a partner at Shea & Gould and practiced at Weil, Gotshal and Manges.

Financing:
  • Representation of national insurance companies and financial institutions in negotiating, documenting and closing acquisition, construction and permanent financing

  • Representation of investment banks and other financial institutions with respect to mezzanine financing and preferred equity transactions
Development and Equity:
  • Representation of institutional owners in development of Class A office buildings, including acquisition, financing, and leasing

  • Representation of private equity funds and pension fund advisors in development of Class A hotels, offices and condominiums in New York City and nationally

  • Representation of private and public companies in development of Class A office buildings in New York City, Washington, D.C., and nationally

Leasing:

  • Representation of landlords in leasing of more than eight million square feet in New York City

  • Representation of institutional users with respect to leasing of major corporate headquarters in New York City and nationally
