Partners Archie Fallon and Britt Mosman have been named among The American Lawyer’s “2022 South Trailblazers.” The special annual supplement honors individuals who have “moved the needle” in the legal industry in the Southern U.S. and are “agents of change” in their respective practice areas.

Archie Fallon, Co-Chair of the Willkie's Power & Renewable Energy, Environmental, Social & Governance and Project Finance practice groups, is a leading transactional lawyer for private equity funds and corporate clients active in the energy, infrastructure and technology sectors and a trailblazer at the forefront of the renewable energy industry. The American Lawyer recognized Archie’s leadership as co-founder and general counsel of the Renewable Energy Alliance (REAL) Houston, an organization with more than 30 corporate members committed to growing Houston’s renewable energy businesses and workforce to accelerate the energy transition.

“Through REAL, I am helping to facilitate the ‘energy transition’ by bringing together businesses, innovators, capital providers and workforce essential to this evolution,” Archie told The American Lawyer. “I’m confident that great things are on the horizon for the City of Houston and I look forward to celebrating our future accomplishments.”

The publication also noted Archie’s role as Chair of the Renewables Practice Committee of the Institute of Energy Law, a leading continuing legal education resource for energy lawyers in the U.S.

Britt Mosman is Vice-Chair of the Firm’s Global Trade & Investment practice group in Washington, and a member of the Willkie Digital Works practice, an industry leader in digital assets regulatory, policymaking and enforcement arenas. The American Lawyer recognized her front-line experience with economic sanctions laws and regulations and her role on the leading edge of the industry at a time of unprecedented sanctions activity. Britt previously served as an attorney in the Office of the Chief Counsel (Foreign Assets Control) advising the U.S. Treasury Department on economic sanctions, election interference and other national security issues, and her work currently includes advising global clients—and the President of Ukraine—on the rapidly evolving sanctions landscape arising from Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

“It’s been an honor to advise the Office of the President of Ukraine on U.S. sanctions and export controls laws, including by identifying possible future sanctions measures that could be taken,” Britt said. “It’s gratifying to be part of these important world events and effect real change. “

Britt also noted how she enjoys helping clients understand the highly technical aspects of sanctions laws and regulations and navigate the myriad real-world implications. Sanctions pose an increasingly complex challenge for global companies, not only requiring compliance with fast-evolving laws, but also the need to address reputational considerations that may be at stake.
