Project Financial International (PFI) has announced that the Ikitelli Integrated Healthcare project has been named as its 2017 PPP Deal of the Year for Europe.

Willkie’s Paris office represents the leading Turkish construction group Rönesans and the Japanese conglomerate Sojitz Corporation, acting together as the project sponsors and the shareholders of the project company. They will design, build, finance and maintain the 2,682-bed city scheme based on a 25-year concession period with operations to begin in 2020. The project includes a general hospital, a cardiovascular hospital, an oncology hospital, a women’s hospital, a children’s hospital, and a neurology and orthopedics hospital.

The Ikitelli city hospital PPP in Istanbul represents the first Japanese overseas healthcare project financing and one of the largest hospital PPPs financed in Turkey to date. The total project costs will reach JPY 203.75 billion (approx. $1.83 billion). Read Willkie’s July 31, 2017 deal announcement.

The Willkie team was led by partner Amir Jahanguiri and included associates Roy Charles Bates, Cédric Gamambaye Dionmou and Idama Al-Saad.

The PFI Awards are part of the Thomson Reuters Awards for Excellence, recognizing corporate and individual success in the global financial industry. The award will be presented on February 7, 2018 at the 2017 PFI Awards Dinner in London.
