Partner Thomas Henry was selected by Law360 as a 2015 MVP in Real Estate, one of only 10 attorneys nationwide to be recognized in the category. On November 29, Law360 profiled Mr. Henry and his practice, citing his deal highlights over the last year. Chief among his high-profile representations discussed were his role as lead real estate advisor on Hudson’s Bay Company’s CMBS financing of the 41 U.S. store portfolio in the company’s newly formed joint venture with Simon Property Group – all in support of HBC’s high-profile acquisition of German department store Galeria Kaufhof, on which a multidisciplinary Willkie team advised.

The profile, for which Mr. Henry was interviewed, notes that he “thrives on challenging deals and appreciates that Willkie is a go-to firm for such complex transactions. He has extensive experience in acquisitions and dispositions, financings, joint ventures, restructurings, and leasing and development transactions and has been the lead lawyer on some of the country’s largest and most high-profile commercial real estate transactions in recent years.”

Other such deals as mentioned in the article include his representation of Paramount in its $2.3 billion IPO (the largest REIT public offering in U.S. history), the $230 million buyout of Paramount’s longtime partner in ownership of 31 West 52nd Street and its recent purchase of 670 Broadway in Manhattan.
