National legal news source Law360 has recognized Willkie as a “Bankruptcy Group of the Year” for 2014 – one of only ten major firms to receive this honor. On January 23, Law360 published an in-depth profile of Willkie’s Business Reorganization & Restructuring Department, highlighting some of its significant accomplishments in 2014. The article included interviews with Department Co-Chairs Marc Abrams and Matthew Feldman.

Law360 noted that “Willkie bolstered its reputation in 2014 with its successful representation of Momentive,” which it cited as “a carefully crafted deal that included a $600 million rights offering and either $1.3 billion in exit financing or the issuance of replacement cramdown notes to certain senior secured creditors.”

The profile noted that “the bankruptcy group’s auspicious year also involved a bit of political wrangling” on behalf of  Interfaith Medical Center Inc., a nonprofit hospital in Brooklyn, which won confirmation of a chapter 11 plan, following negotiations with various state agencies.

Also included in the piece was Willkie’s work on behalf of Nortel Networks U.K. Pension Claimants and the U.K. Pension Protection Fund in the defunct telecom’s bankruptcy case, as well as work for the Atlantic City Club Casino.
