Law360 has named partner David Drewes as a 2015 MVP in Real Estate, one of only 10 attorneys nationwide to be recognized in the category. On November 30, Law360 profiled Mr. Drewes and his practice, noting that he “tackled a string of high-profile real estate deals” that earned him a spot on the list. Among the featured deals are his representation of B&L Management Company in its $690 million sale of 24 rental apartment buildings to Fairstead and Blackstone. The article also discusses his role in securing €1.3 billion in mortgage financing for the €2.6 billion acquisition of 41 properties from Galeria Holding by a joint venture between Hudson’s Bay Company and Simon Property Group – which came alongside HBC’s successful acquisition of Galeria (on which a multidisciplinary Willkie team advised).

Mr. Drewes was interviewed for the profile, which also cites, among others, his representation of the former Washington Prime Group as a real estate attorney in regards to its $4.3 billion merger with Glimcher Realty Trust, as well as The American Home in its $263 million sale of a 2,460-home portfolio to Silver Bay Realty Trust Corp.

In light of his busy year, Law360 notes that Mr. Drewes “has proven himself to be an invaluable member of Willkie's real estate group, whether he’s representing clients in large property portfolios sales or advising companies during billion-dollar mergers.”
