Keila Ravelo is a partner in the Litigation Department and a member of the Antitrust Practice Group. Keila focuses on high-profile antitrust and complex commercial litigation matters, internal investigations, and legal issues impacting the financial services industry. She has a wide range of experience with respect to federal civil practice and procedure and class actions, particularly in the areas of antitrust, securities and insurance litigation. In addition, Keila's practice includes global regulatory advocacy and counseling on competition, trade regulation and other commercial matters.

Profiles in Diversity Journal named Keila on its listing of “Women Worth Watching in 2015,” which “celebrates women executives that are using their influence to shape their workplace and their world.”  She was also recognized on the front cover of the June 2014 edition of the American Lawyer for being among the top U.S. lawyers who in 2013/2014 “led the hottest, most significant and most lucrative work in the nation’s top firms,” an elite group in which minority lawyers were significantly underrepresented. Chambers USA (2007-2012) ranks Keila among the leading individuals practicing Antitrust Law in New York. Highlights

Selected Significant Matters

  • Currently defending MasterCard in final approval appellate litigation and collateral litigation including opt-out plaintiffs and consumers in connection with In re Payment Card Interchange Fee Antitrust Litigation after achieving approval of landmark settlement in largest-ever US antitrust class action; the settlement resolves eight years of litigation challenging MasterCard’s and Visa’s transaction fees and certain rules governing merchant acceptance.
  • Negotiated consent decree between MasterCard and Department of Justice following filing of civil antitrust lawsuit brought by Department of Justice and ten states against MasterCard, Visa, and American Express following two-year investigation.
  • Represented Mexican Bankers' Association in connection with payments industry regulatory matters.
  • Represented MasterCard in Visa Check/MasterMoney Antitrust Litigation, one of the largest antitrust class actions in U.S. history, settled in 2003, and related opt-out litigation.
  • Represented a seed manufacturer in Genetically Modified Seeds Antitrust Litigation, which resulted in denial of class action status to a group of farmers alleging price fixing in the genetically modified seeds industry.

Prior to joining Willkie, Keila was a partner at Hunton & Williams and was also previously with Clifford Chance Rogers & Wells.

Selected Professional and Business Activities

Keila is a member of the American Bar Association (Antitrust Section), the New York State Bar Association, the New York City Bar Association, the New York Women's Bar Association and the Hispanic National Bar Association. She serves on the Board of Directors for the National Center for Law and Economic Justice, and served as a 2011 Guest Speaker on Complex Class Action Litigation at Cardozo Law School.
