Topic: A panel of eight distinguished judges, 27 well-known commercial litigators, and five prominent in-house counsel for major corporations will provide practical advice and strategies for winning commercial cases in New York State courts. The program will begin with a discussion of the strategic issues involved in case investigation and evaluation; the next topic is the effective handling of motions to dismiss and for summary judgment. It also will cover current discovery issues, the attorney-client and work product privileges and ethics for business litigators. Trial advocacy and the use of expert testimony will be discussed in detail. The program concludes with insights into the client's perspective of business litigation.

Designed for both newly admitted attorneys seeking an overview of commercial litigation in New York State courts and experienced attorneys seeking to refine and update their litigation skills, this program will use an exciting, interactive format. Speakers will focus on strategies and practical advice for maximizing the effectiveness of each stage of the litigation. In particular, they will discuss techniques for advancing a client's interests as well as potential pitfalls or traps for the unwary.
